Briana Tink: Choosing an eventing partner

One of the biggest decisions of being an eventer is choosing our partner who we will bond with, and put our faith and trust in to carry us safely around all disciplines involved in our sport. I faced this decision 12 months ago when I was looking for my perfect partner in crime. I came across and fell instantly in love with a horse from Victoria, competing at 2* level with a very competent and successful professional rider.

The seller was very honest and up front & disclosed that this particular horse had an underlying issue, although extensive vet investigation had been done nothing could pin point why occasionally he would go lame.  As a horse person I would not be alone in saying one is clinically mad to buy a horse with an underlining injury, however experimenting with supplements on my own horses finally paid off.

So my decision was… do I or don’t I take the gamble? 12 months on I am so happy and delighted that I took the gamble. I have had my new ride Fraser (Goldrossa) on Rose-Hip Vital Equine from day one of him arriving on our property.
